rSmart Announces Release of Third rSmart Sakai CLE 2.6 Service Pack to Customers
Administrative Improvements and Increased LDAP Accessibility Listed Among Numerous Highlights
Phoenix, AZ, February 23, 2010 – rSmart, the provider of enterprise support for open source application software in education, today announced the release of its third service pack for the rSmart Sakai CLE 2.6, the company’s fully tested, optimized, and supported commercial version of the open source software. The rSmart Sakai CLE and support solution allows institutions to achieve the cost savings and flexibility of open source software, while operating with the same confidence, reliability, and support services of traditional proprietary software.
Similar to the way RedHat distributes and supports the Linux operating system, rSmart distributes and supports Sakai. The rSmart Sakai CLE includes installation and configuration tools to make Sakai easier to manage, over 800 pages of user guide documentation, video tutorials, more than one thousand knowledgebase articles, and formal training guides.
rSmart’s latest Service Pack 2.6.3 contains a dozen new enhancements including administrative enhancements, improved LDAP accessibility, updates to Site Statistics and Gradebook 2 modules and 94 bug fixes identified and resolved by either the Sakai community or by rSmart. Any bug fixes resolved by rSmart are pushed back to the community code base as part of rSmart’s code management process.
About the rSmart Sakai CLE and Support Service
The rSmart Sakai CLE is available for hosted or on-site deployments, both of which are supported by a team of Sakai support and release engineers, Java developers, quality assurance personnel and other support staff making it unnecessary for institutions to have their own developers on staff to support Sakai. The company also provides a full complement of professional services including Sakai evaluation and assessment, configuration planning, training, installation, customization, integration and course migration.
