Profile2 and Blogs

The upcoming 2.7 CLE release will include two previously unsupported “stealthed” tools: Profile2 and Blogs (BlogWow). Each tool provides users with some new resources for creating and sharing information in the CLE.

Profile2 is an alternative to the Profile tool. It offers a Facebook-style interface, as well as integration with Twitter. In Profile2, you may:

  • Search for and request “connections” with other users in the CLE, so you may share profile information.
  • Provide a greater variety of information in your profile, including favorite books, T.V. shows, movies, and quotes.
  • Post Twitter-style status updates for your profile.
  • If you have a Twitter account, specify that status updates in Profile2 are also posted on your Twitter home page.

In addition, Profile2 expands your options for privacy controls, so you may customize what information the CLE displays, and to whom.

An alternative to the Blogger tool, Blogs offers a streamlined interface that makes it easy to create and manage a blog, as well as access the blogs of other users. In the Blogs tool, you may:

  • Create a profile, including an image, for your blog.
  • Save an unpublished draft of a blog entry.
  • View a blog in a separate window.
  • Quickly see the number of comments a blog has received.
  • Subscribe to an RSS feed for a blog.
  • If you are a site owner, set permissions for how site participants may manage their blogs and access the blogs of other users.

The Profile2 and Blogs tools are just some of the enhancements you’ll find in version 2.7 of the CLE. The release is set for a mid-summer time frame, so it’s coming soon!
