rSmart in the Open Source Community
There is a real movement toward open source in education—and we’re helping enable it. A new ecosystem is emerging around the movement with companies and institutions assuming new and important roles that balance and sustain it. rSmart’s is involved in three key aspects:
Leadership and governance
rSmart has been a part of the open source movement in education since it began. We co-founded the open source portfolio and Kuali initiatives, and we were a founding commercial affiliate with Sakai. rSmart’s president Chris Coppola serves on the board of directors for Sakai and Kuali.
Engineering
rSmart software engineers are recognized leaders in the communities we serve. They are among key "committers" on each of the projects. We’re proud to contribute such important talent to these projects and we hope you’ll find a similar satisfaction in the fact that working with rSmart results in direct contributions to the future of IT in education.
Community support
rSmart’s core competency is support. We provide our subscribing customers with guaranteed service levels necessary to support mission critical enterprise systems like financials and CLE. We also understand appreciate the need for a strong self-supportive community. Our support staff participate in supporting the community on project lists along with their institutional peers.
