Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder
As co-founder of rSmart, Tony Potts brings more than 15 years of experience in education technology. After graduating from Arizona State University with an engineering technology degree focused on interactive computer graphics, Tony wrote seven computer books on subjects ranging from Java development to 3D graphics, then hired by his publisher (Coriolis Books), to edit their programming magazine (Visual Developer) as well as run their IT department which included creating their first web presence. In his most recent role as Chief Technology Officer for rSmart, Tony played a leadership role in the development and delivery of Sakai and Kuali open source software and services.
John Robinson began his service to the higher education marketplace in 1968 when he founded Information Associates, the first company to develop and distribute applications software for colleges. After 20 years and 500 institutions using this popular ERP suite, he and a few partners started companies continuing to provide administrative software to an expanding client base and wider range of applications. His interest has always been supporting colleges and universities with affordable mission critical solutions and involving institutions in the design of the solutions.
Vice President of Operations
For more than 19 years, Dr. Todd Yates has been actively engaged in higher education technology. He has managed the implementation and delivery of major software systems such as Kuali, Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, Blackboard, Moodle, Sakai, at hundreds of educational institutions worldwide. At rSmart, Dr. Yates served as lead enterprise architect and information security officer for rSmart’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Operations. Prior to joining the company, he served as Executive Director of Technology for St. Mary’s University and CIO of the WILM Technical College PeopleSoft Consortium, a public education ERP and data-center that served three community colleges.
Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Terri has built her career in education as an educator, technology director, and manager of sales and marketing teams for edtech companies including Pearson, Scientific Learning, PowerSchool Group, and Waterford Institute. She has always been passionate about working with schools to improve the integration of technology to support educators, student achievement and school success. At rSmart, Terri is excited about leading the sales and marketing efforts to bring superior products to the education market. Terri holds a Master’s degree in Education from Iona College and is currently on the board of the Higley Achievement Foundation.
Client Services Director
In the past seven years, Lindsay Smith has helped hundreds of educational institutions implement cloud-based software. Upon joining rSmart in July 2014, she immediately began supporting the functional validation of OneCampus and working closely with the IU team. Her passion lies in ensuring customers just say “Wow!” when asked how the company is performing. Lindsay manages all customer implementations, communications, trainings, and inbound support requests. Lindsay is an Arizona native and earned her bachelor degree from Arizona State University.
Senior Software Engineer
Allan is a graduate of Arizona State University with nearly 20 years of experience in IT. He began his career as a computer tech for ASU before transitioning to the workforce as a graphic artist designing static web pages and graphics for a publishing company. In 2002, Allan went to work for Blackboard, Inc. where he held positions as a client support representative, project manager, and developer. He’s a self-proclaimed computer geek at heart and enjoys tinkering around with electronics in his spare time when not spending time with his family and long list of pets.
As a leading consultant in both sales and new business development, Ed joined rSmart in 2015. With more than eight years of experience in software sales, his career spans across multiple industries. This has allowed Ed to develop a pivotal perspective on sales strategy, organization, operations, and customer service. Prior to rSmart, he spent five years in human capital management. Ed holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Muskingum University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Akron.
Originally from Southern California, Jennifer attended Orange Coast Community College in Costa Mesa, CA. She started her Customer Service career with AT&T Wireless at their corporate office in Cerritos, CA. From there, she moved to Corelogic Saferent (a subsidiary of First American Title) in Santa Ana, CA where she spent the next 10 years dedicating herself to assisting clients and helping the Sales and Account Management teams expand their customer base. Jennifer has been with rSmart since 2012 and considers helping colleges and universities achieve their mission both a challenge and a privilege.
