Overnight, on April 24th, rSmart will deploy the latest OneCampus release. No downtime is anticipated.
The release contains bug fixes as well as the following key enhancements:
- Banner Connector
- Permission Groups
- Updated Search Terms Report
- Market and Category Restrict for Publishers
- Global Announcement Enhancement
- Search Bar Focus Option
- Ability to Unsubmit a Task
- Task / Task Center Announcement Recurrence
Banner Connector – We are very happy to announce that our first connector will be available with this release. OneCampus customers (who also use Banner as their student information system) will now be able to use the connector to seamlessly create multiple Banner tasks instantly with a few keystrokes! Administrators will be able to see and use this new functionality under Advanced Settings. This first version of the Banner Connector will be of most benefit to new OneCampus clients. Future versions will add features that help more established implementations as well.
Permission Groups – In an effort to simplify the process of granting permissions to groups of users, we have created the Permission Groups module. Located beneath Advanced Settings, the Permission Groups module will be your one stop shop for granting permissions to admins as well as granting ACL level access to users for things like feedback, workflow approvals, announcements and support. This feature works in coordination with the current ACLs but we hope that, over time, the ACLs will go away.
Updated Search Terms Report – We have gathered feedback from a number of customers in order to simplify the usability of this report. With this release, the search terms report will now zero out the “Misses” column and the “Date of Last Miss” column once a search term begins to register as a hit. At that point, the term will be listed in the “Hits” column along with the corresponding “Date of Last Hit”. Please note, because we have changed the way this report works, we will be in essence starting over with search term data. If it is important for you to have a record of your historical search term data, we encourage you to download a copy of the report as a CSV file prior to the release.
Market and Category Restrict for Publishers – Administrators will now have the ability to restrict publishers to certain markets or categories. This can be accomplished under Advanced Settings>Maintain Publishers where there will now be two new multi select fields for restricted markets and restricted categories. Once restrictions have been selected, they will be used as filters on the task and task center edit pages so that the publisher only sees the markets and categories that were selected for them.
Global Announcement Enhancement – Administrators and users that have the global announcements ACL enabled will now be able to optionally assign roles and markets to global announcements. This enhancement will allow you to display global announcements to the appropriate audience based on which roles and markets are selected (or leave current functionality and show for everyone).
Search Bar Focus – Going forward anytime there is a search bar present within OneCampus, on the main store page or throughout the publishing menu, the default focus of the cursor will be the search bar. Because we understand that this might be an accessibility concern for some schools, we have also added a tenant level setting under Advanced Settings > Maintain Settings > Search Bar Focus Enabled that will allow clients to change this setting. Changing the setting to “No” will stop the cursor from defaulting to the search bar on the main store page, however, it will continue to focus the cursor on the various other search bars throughout the publishing menu.
Unsubmit a Task – By popular demand we have added this new button to the manage submitted tasks module. This enhancement will improve the distributed publishing workflow by allowing Publishers to unsubmit a task once it has been sent to an admin for approval. Clicking the unsubmit button will automatically pull back the task and change the status to Active (Declined). From there, the publisher can either edit the task and resubmit for approval or remove it from the manage submitted tasks module altogether.
Task / Task Center Announcement Recurrence – Rounding out this release, we will also be adding the ability for Administrators and users that have task announcement permissions enabled to be able to set up task or task center announcements to recur daily. From the New Announcement page, there will now be a radio button that will allow you to pick “Recur daily” along with fields to select a begin time and an end time for the daily recurrence.
