Oral Roberts University (ORU) is a comprehensive university that promotes spiritual growth, academic excellence, physical fitness, social skills, and professional competence. The Tulsa campus is home to students from all 50 states as well as 90 countries. Students from all over the world also enjoy the “whole person education” via online methods.
“We live in a digital world where people learn, work and play in the cloud,” said Chief Information Officer Michael Mathews. “At ORU, one of our goals is to create a global digital society through one connected campus. We set out to find an educational partner who could align with our vision to use new technologies and new paradigms to make our whole person education program accessible to students around the world.”
After a careful review process, ORU chose to partner with rSmart and implement OneCampus, a lightweight, cloud-based portal that makes it easy for colleges and universities to organize their web-based campus services in one location.
A one-stop solution
Unlike traditional portals, OneCampus provides a Google-like search tool that allows students, faculty and staff to quickly locate and access services such as curriculum, academic calendars, email, events, athletics, counseling, maps, degree plan sheets, the student association, student newspaper, dining services, and more. It is mobile-friendly, so students can successfully navigate campus life from any computer or mobile device.
A digital concierge service
To support students as well as faculty and staff, ORU’s IT department transformed its helpdesk into a “concierge” style of service to make its services more visible and accessible. The IT Concierge Service, which launched in summer 2014, is staffed every day during normal operating hours.
